This marks yet another important step towards environmental transparency and sustainable development, confirming our commitment to responsible manufacturing and environmental stewardship.
What is an EPD?
An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a verified document based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that presents a product’s environmental impact in a clear, measurable, and comparable way. A Type III declaration, compliant with ISO 14025 and EN 15804, is a globally recognized standard for environmental reporting in the construction industry.
What does the EPD for glazing units cover?
As part of the project, we carried out a detailed environmental assessment of our glazing units throughout their entire life cycle – from raw material extraction and manufacturing, through transport and use, to the end-of-life stage (recycling or disposal). This enabled us to determine, among other things:
- greenhouse gas emissions (carbon footprint),
- primary energy consumption,
- impact on the use of natural resources,
- potential impact on water, soil, and air.
Why is it important?
Having an EPD is not only a matter of prestige – it provides tangible support for our customers, designers, and investors who require reliable environmental data when designing sustainable buildings. The declaration helps facilitate:
- participation in tenders and environmentally focused construction projects,
- obtaining environmental certification such as BREEAM and LEED,
- meeting the requirements of sustainable construction and the circular economy.
