On September 18, 2025, Europe will celebrate the International Garage Door Day for the very first time. The initiative was launched thanks to the commitment of enthusiasts, specialists, and representatives of the WIŚNIOWSKI brand, who are well aware of the vital role proper home security plays.
Garage door – safety and savings in one
The statistics are clear: in Poland, a burglary attempt occurs every 8 minutes. Modern garage doors with RC2 certification can effectively minimize this risk, protecting both residents and property. But it’s not only about safety. A well-chosen garage door can also deliver significant heating savings – even hundreds of zlotys per year. It’s like sealing a gap in the thermal insulation of the entire house.
– Poland is the world’s second-largest exporter of building joinery (just after China), reaching an export value of €3 billion. WIŚNIOWSKI – with more than 1.5 million doors produced so far and distribution to 35 countries – is one of the engines of this success. We cannot imagine our technologies not setting trends, and the International Garage Door Day is the perfect forum for this. Every September 18, we want to remind people how important effective home security is, as well as thermal insulation and high product quality – which truly protects not only our safety and privacy but also the energy efficiency of our homes – said Marcin Strzelec, Managing Director of the Garage and Industrial Doors Product Group at WIŚNIOWSKI.
Modernity and trendsetting also mean convenience. That’s why, during the conference, WIŚNIOWSKI officially presented its extended product range featuring WIŚNIOWSKI Connected technology. Innovative on a European scale – and the very first of its kind in Poland – this solution allows users to control, for example, a garage door or a fence from anywhere in the world via a dedicated app. The smartphone becomes the garage key (without the hassle of installing smart hubs, thanks only to radio Wi-Fi connectivity). Developing this segment is especially important and necessary. That’s precisely why the International Garage Door Day was created.
– The International Garage Door Day is also meant to remind us that the garage door is a silent hero of everyday life. Every day, it opens and closes our homes, ensuring our safety and comfort. And just like a car, it needs regular maintenance and care to remain reliable for years – said Monika Młynarczyk, Marketing Director at WIŚNIOWSKI. – The garage, where the door plays the leading role, is not only a place to park a car. It’s also a space where passions come to life, especially for motoring fans or DIY enthusiasts. It’s a home hub for creativity, work, and relaxation.
“Garages Full of Dreams” – inauguration of the celebration at WIŚNIOWSKI
The official inauguration of the International Garage Door Day took place on September 16, as part of the three-day international conference “Garages Full of Dreams.” The event brought together journalists from Poland, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic, who had the opportunity to look behind the scenes of one of the largest factories in the region – a place where solutions protecting millions of European homes are created every day.
During the conference, police burglary statistics were presented. A live attempt to breach a garage door was demonstrated with expert commentary, and a package of anti-burglary solutions was introduced. Participants also toured the production plant, attended lectures on intelligent security solutions, and listened to an inspiring talk by Roman Kawszyn on the advantages of humans over artificial intelligence. There was also time for informal discussions and interviews with key company figures – Krystyna Baran (CEO), Marcin Strzelec (Product Development Director), Wiesław Noga (Product Manager), and Grzegorz Mruk (Export Director).
A special highlight of the program was the lecture delivered by Andreas Schmidt from ift Rosenheim, an expert in building joinery, who in his talk “Burglary, Vandalism, and Reasonable Building Protection” presented data on burglaries in Germany, explained the European anti-burglary standard EN 1627, the garage door standard DIN/TS 18194, as well as new procedures related to vandalism and product certification.
Development strategy – new investments at WIŚNIOWSKI
The inauguration of the new holiday is part of the company’s development strategy, which consistently strengthens its production capacity and international expansion. On September 2, the company announced a project worth nearly PLN 160 million, covering the expansion of the plant, modernization of the machinery park, and the purchase of modern production lines that will increase efficiency and enhance export potential. For this, it also received support from the Kraków Technology Park under the Polish Investment Zone.
At the same time, the company is expanding its presence in Western Europe. On August 20, it announced the purchase of an 8,316 m² plot in Unna/Kamen (North Rhine-Westphalia), where a modern office and training complex with a showroom, conference space, and the Best-Seller™ training center will be built. The investment will create up to 30 new jobs and strengthen customer service in Germany and across the DACH region. As company representatives emphasize, the new facility will be built in line with the Green Light initiative – a strategy aimed at minimizing the carbon footprint through the use of heat pumps, photovoltaic installations, and charging stations for electric vehicles.
Both projects – in Poland and Germany – demonstrate that WIŚNIOWSKI is not only strengthening its position domestically but also setting the direction for the development of the joinery industry in Europe.
